Acoustic Guitar
Submitted By: Zahava Sternberg:I eagerly await each month's arrival of Acoustic Guitar magazine. This magazine has a variety of great lessons for players of all musical interests and skill levels. The BASICS features lessons, advice, and resources designed with the beginner in mind. PRIVATE LESSONS are technical tips from popular guitarists on how to play their favorite tunes and lessons on their style. SONGWRITERS give tips on playing grooves and writing songs, and shares notes about their influences. The WOODSHED section covers more advanced guitar techniques you can apply in different musical styles and settings from delicate finger style to boot stomping bluegrass and rock. I avidly look for the SONGBOOK transcriptions of songs that are in musical notation with chords and/or in TAB. The songs are usually accurate, and by quality artists. There are plenty of well-written articles in STAGE AND STUDIO that give helpful hints on everything from guitar care to recording and stage performances. Guitar players are notorious for lusting after acquiring more guitars and new gear. This magazine covers the spectrum of instrument design and construction with in depth interviews with guitar builders and reviews of arch tops, steel-string flattops, nylon-strings, resonators, and specialty guitars. My only request to make a great magazine even better is I wish all of the songs instead of only select ones were available online for download. 5.0
