[WOOD MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION] - Featured review submitted By: Brandon Fritts:
I have bought the last couple of issues of Wood magazine from the local news stand and I have recently subscribed. I have found the techniques section very helpful. When I looked through one of the issues I found an article on block planes. The article told me about the uses and maintenance of block planes and was very helpful in guiding my selection of a new block plane.

Wood Magazine
Submitted By: Darrin Muggli:Wood Magazine is a decent woodworking magazine that contains what you would expect from such a publication. Each issue has at least one detailed project with plans, a cut list, etc., generally one article on improving your technique (joinery, finishing, etc.), and some information on new tools and tool reviews. This is a better entry-level woodworking magazine than, say, Fine Woodworking. I also find it more practical than the latter publication in that I typically do not have anywhere near the time to practice and implement the detailed techniques to be a 'Fine Woodworker'. I am content with working with 'Wood'. Like most publications in this area, the magazine only comes seven times per year, so you may wish to subscribe to a second publication. 5.0

Wood Magazine
Submitted By: Camie Wheeler:I bought Wood Magazine for my husband last year. He liked it so much that he not only renewed it this year, but also bought subscriptions for his dad and brother-in-law! It has several plans for various woodworking projects, everything from spinning bowls to bedroom furniture! Not only does it provide plans, but it also gives you input about new tools and ways to get organized in the shop. 5.0

Wood Magazine
Submitted By: Michael Peace:I recommend Wood Magazine for the beginning or occasional woodworker. It has content focused on those interested in learning more about woodworking tools and techniques. Every issue has half a dozen projects for shop and home with full size patterns and a handful of articles on woodworking shop techniques. Each issue usually contains several reviews of woodworking tools and materials. Very experienced woodworkers probably do not need project ideas and have mastered their techniques may find the content a little basic and repetitive. It is a good fit for me who is starting woodworking and in the process of adding a basement shop. 4.0

Wood Magazine
Submitted By: James Stephens:I've subscribed to many, many magazines about woodworking, and Wood Magazine is one I continue to buy. Its projects are interesting and useful, its reviews are sensible, and the magazine itself is packed with well written and informative articles. Each new issue usually has something to inspire me to get out of the house and into my workshop. I recommend it whether you're an old pro or a novice woodworker. 5.0

Wood Magazine
Submitted By: Kenneth Wilson:Along with American Woodworker, Wood Magazine is the right magazine for the average woodworker. It has lots of varied projects, detailed instructions, and lots of tool reviews and tips. Overall, an excellent magazine for the average, power tool based woodworker. If you are into traditional craftsmanship, then Fine Woodworking is probably a better magazine. But, everyone will find some helpful information in this magazine. 5.0

Wood Magazine
Submitted By: Gerald MacDonald:I find Wood Magazine to be an excellent resource for the active woodworker. Each issue has a variety of information on tools, tips for the workshop, techniques and projects. Their series on home workshops was a great help in my designing and building the components for my own home workshop. In addition, I have built a number of the projects from the magazine including smaller items for Christmas gifts to cabinetry for my shop. I eagerly look forward to each issue of Wood Magazine. 5.0

Wood Magazine
Submitted By: Bill Eastman:Wood Magazine is ideal for the hobbyist or serious wood project maker. It is full of helpful tips, plus projects and templates that take you step by step in making professional level projects. The magazine shows you how to do complex wood projects in a simple and easy manner. For the quality of the magazine and with the cost of a subscription, the savings with tips pays for itself in cost, hours and quality. I got a trial subscription and was sold. 5.0
