I used to read Popular Science Magazine at my old job and have missed it since moving. As an Engineering Student I always gravitated toward the science articles in the other magazines I like, Newsweek, Time, etc. – but of course that is not the general focus of these magazines so most tech articles are too simplistic and have no depth. I find with Popular Science that doesn’t usually happen. While articles are careful to make connections to practical applications to society at large, they don’t treat the reader like an idiot and therefore aren’t afraid to delve into technical descriptions or expand beyond the tighter focus of the article. Nice mix of full articles and shorter easy to read at-a-glance spotlights. Generally speaking, there is a much wider variety of technology, with a frequent emphasis on technology not yet mastered, but on the horizon. Most weeklies only focus on this kind of material once yearly – if that.
